In Today's World
In today’s world Bosnia is still a small country with just under 4 million people living there. The capital of the country is Sarajevo. It is still in the rebuilding process in which its recovering from the war that ended in 1995. Today some of the main cities that are located in Bosnia are Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka, Tuzla and Zenica with Sarajevo being the most populous. Everything has been on the rise when it comes to the politics and economy of the country. Today Bosnia is run by 3 presidents instead of one. This source game from (CIA par. 6). There is one of each ethnic group. The economy has also been on the rise after being at its lowest point during the war. Today the country has over 2.5 billion Euros invested in the country each year. (CIA par.2) Some of the Investors include Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and so on. The country makes most of its money from manufacturing followed by banking and then trade. 26.2 % comes from industry and 65.6 % comes from services. When it comes to industries, the industries of this country include steel, coal, iron, lead and zinc just to name a few.
The country today is also a great tourist attraction year long. The capital of Bosnia, Sarajevo was voted 40th best place to visit out of all the cities in the world in 2012. In 2010 it was voted one of the top 10 cities to visit (LonelyPlanet) and in 2014 it was nominated as European Capital of Culture. Many of the attractions include Sarajevo, which is also known as the Olympic city after having the winter Olympics held there in 1984. The other very big attraction is in the city of Mostar where people go for religious pilgrimages. Each year over 1 million people make the trip to visit St James Church (BiH Tourism). Many people also come visit Bosnia because it is very famous for its ski resorts that were used in the 1984 olympics. Some of the ski resorts inlude Bjelasnica and Igman.
The country also has very many upcoming events. One of the events for example is that it will be hosting the Youth Olympics in 2017 and has also man bids to hold the UEFA Euro Cup in 2020. The country also has many things to look forward too when it comes to its own soccer team which has made its first World Cup since it has been a country. They will be in the 2014 World Cup that is being hosted by Brazil after coming in first place in their qualification round. (FIFA)
