February 29th: Bosnia & Herzegovina declare for independence
April: Serbs start there siege on Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia
1993
January: Bosnian Prime Minister killed by Serbs
January: Bosnia's begin fighting with Croats over land in Bosnia
United Nations declares safe zones for Bosnian Muslim: Sarajevo, Tuzla, Bihac, Srebrenica, Zepa, Gorazde
1994
February 6th: Bomb shell explodes in busy market, kills 68 people February 28th: United Nations shoots down 4 Serbian Aircraft's
March 18th: Bosnia's and Croatians sign peace treaty in the United States
1995
January 1st: Jimmy Carter makes peace treaty for Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Serbs
March 24th: Serbs refuse to leave the city of Sarajevo
July 11th: Serbs take over the city of Srebrenica, kill an estimated 8,000 men and boys
August 30th: NATO begins airstrike on Serbia
November 1st: Peace talks begin in Dayton Ohio
November 27th: United States president, Bill Clinton sends 20,000 troops to Bosnia
Deceber 14th: The Dayton Accords is signed by the Bosnians, Serbs and Croats
Bosnia and Herzegovina faced the second most devastating war in Europe just after World War II. Starting in 1992 and ending in 1995, the war left more than 2,000,000 without a home, an estimated 200,000 killed and thousands raped and tortured. (Allcock, Milivojevic and Horton 38). Many of the people were forced into refugee camps all over Europe like Germany, Austria, Switzerland and so on. Some also went to the United States.
